Funcionarios públicos y activistas dan la voz de alarma en el estado fronterizo mexicano de Baja California donde aseguran que en un lapso de cinco años documentaron más de 300 asesinatos donde las víctimas eran niños y adolescentes. En muchos casos, esas víctimas fueron asesinadas cuando sicarios trataban de asesinar a un ser querido.

A shootout inside a shopping mall in western Mexico caused widespread panic as shoppers sought cover or tried to run away. The shootout comes as state and federal authorities fail to address widespread cartel violence in the state of Michoacan and suspicions cloud its governor who is related to various cartel leaders.

Gunmen Hang Dismembered Body from Overpass in Central Mexico

A group of suspected cartel gunmen left a dismembered body hanging from a pedestrian overpass in central Mexico as criminal organizations announce a new fight over the street-level drug market. During the day, authorities found three more similar crime scenes where gunmen left body parts next to threats.

New Paramilitary Group Surfaces in Southern Mexico as Cartel Violence Spreads

A new paramilitary group surfaced in southern Mexico, claiming to have taken up arms to defend against a cartel-connected paramilitary group. The rise of paramilitary groups comes at a time when Mexico’s government has been unable to contain the rapid spread of cartel violence plaguing the country. Criminal organizations openly challenge and force police and military forces into submission.
